The Andécaves or Andes whose territory extended north of the Loire on the banks of the Mayenne, occupied Anjou which today corresponds to the departments of Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe. They are cited by Caesar in the Gallic Wars (II, 35; III, 7, VII, 4; VIII, 26).
