Exemplaire sur un flan ovale et irrégulier avec des faiblesses de frappe sur les légendes. Portrait d’Anastase identifiable. Le revers est bien visible. Recouvert d’une épaisse patine de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé d’Anastase à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*a); diadème perlé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Anastasius Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Anastase perpétuel auguste).

Reverse legend : CLO RORV-ST PP AR/ *|-// THS[OB] (SIC !).
Reverse description : Anastase, vêtu militairement debout à gauche, tenant une longue haste de la main droite et s’appuyant de la main gauche sur un bouclier.

Commentary


Diadème perlé aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges larges sous le paludamentum. La légende de revers semble une déformation de la légende Gloria Romanorum. Semble de même coin de droit que l’exemplaire reproduit dans l’ouvrage de Sommer (DMBR. 1/31, p. 36 = Ira & larry Goldberg Auctioneers, Beverly Hills, CA, USA, Auction 55, 29-30 octobre 2009, n° 258, provenant de la collection de la famille Christov). A. Sommer signale que ce type est connu à moins d’une demi-douzaine d’exemplaires. De la plus grande rareté.
