Flan bien centré, scyphate. Une faiblesse de frappe à six heures au droit se retrouvant à trois heures au revers. Type bien reconnaissable. Patine grise aux légers reflets dorés

Obverse description : Deux sangliers opposés, (au-dessus, une couronne, surmontée d’un œil), le tout entouré de volutes ; grènetis.

Reverse

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Reverse description : Cheval sanglé galopant à droite ; sur la croupe de l’animal, oiseau regardant à gauche ; rinceaux autour du cheval, près du grènetis.

Commentary

Cette monnaie ne semble pas être isssue des mêmes coins que les deux autres exemplaires connus (celui du Nouvel Atlas de L.-P. Delestrée et M. Tache, qui était inédit et celui de MONNAIES XV, n° 1202).
Ce type présente une synthèse typologique entre les deniers en argent des Bellovaques (LT. 7241), les bronzes aux animaux affrontés des Aulerques Éburovices (LT. 8529) et les bronzes aux sangliers affrontés des Ambiens (LT. 518-8522).
This coin does not seem to come from the same coins as the two other known examples (that of the Nouvel Atlas by L.-P. Delestrée and M. Tache, which was unpublished and that of MONNAIES XV, n° 1202). This type presents a typological synthesis between the silver denarii of the Bellovaci (LT. 7241), the bronzes with confronted animals from the Aulerci Eburovices (LT. 8529) and the bronzes with confronted boars from the Ambiens (LT. 518-8522)
