Obverse description : Quatre serpents ou encolures de chevaux anguipèdes, tirant la langue autour d'un annelet centré, formant un swastika dextrogyre.
Reverse
Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval passant à droite, à la fine crinière perlée ; au-dessus, un triskèle partant de l’encolure ; entre les jambes un annelet centré ; deux autres annelets, accostant les antérieurs.
Commentary
Les deux seuls exemplaires que nous avons proposé en VSO sont le n° 1241 de MONNAIES XV et le n° 261 de MONNAIES XX.
Le symbole au-dessus du cheval était décrit comme un oiseau ; ce serait en fait un triskèle dont le troisième élément serait constitué par l’encolure perlée du cheval.
The only two examples we have offered in VSO are No. 1241 of COINS XV and No. 261 of COINS XX. The symbol above the horse was described as a bird; it would in fact be a triskelion whose third element would be the pearled neck of the horse.

AMBIANI (Area of Amiens)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
Their name, "those who are on both sides of the river", indicates that the Ambiens, people of Belgian Gaul, occupied both banks of the Somme (Samara). Their territory corresponds to the current department of the Somme. Their neighbors were the Calètes, the Morins, the Atrébates, the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Samarobriva (near Amiens). They participated in the coalition of the Belgian peoples in 57 BC and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. In 52 BC, it was a contingent of five thousand men that they gave for the relief army dedicated to clearing Alesia. Caesar (BG. II, 4, 15; VII, 75; VIII, 7). Strabo (G. IV, 5). Kruta: 68, 110, 366.
