Commentary


La représentation d’Hercule au revers est de toute beauté. Il s’agit d’un bel exemple de l’art baroque de l’extrême fin du XVIIe siècle. Le rendu est comparable à une oeuvre pictural.
The depiction of Hercules on the reverse is truly beautiful. It is a fine example of Baroque art from the very end of the 17th century. The rendering is comparable to a pictorial work.

Jean-Georges II belongs to the Albertine line of the Saxon line. He is the eldest son of Jean-Georges I (1591-1656). He succeeded his father in 1656. Jean-Georges III, his eldest son, succeeded him in 1680.
