Ferdinand II was a member of the House of Habsburg. He was Archduke of Austria from June 10, 1590, until his death, King of Bohemia from June 5, 1617, to August 26, 1619, and again from November 9, 1620, until his death, and King of Hungary from July 1, 1618, until his death. He was crowned Holy Roman Emperor on September 9, 1619, and reigned from August 28, 1619, until his death. His entire reign was consumed by the Thirty Years' War, in which he played a leading role..
