Historical background


GERMANY - KINGDOM OF BAVARIA - OTHON

(13/06/1886-1913)

Othon (24/04/1848-11/10/1916), second son of Maximilian II Joseph and Marie of Prussia is the brother of Louis II. After the death of his elder brother in 1886, he succeeded him. Unbalanced as Louis II is his uncle, Leopold (1821-1912) holding the regency between 1886 and 1912, and its cousin, the future Louis III (1845-1921). In 1913, Otto abdicated in favor of Louis. He died in 1916.
