GERMANY - PRINCIPALITY OF HESSE-CASSEL - FREDERICK WILLIAM I

(1847-1866)

Son of William II born in 1802, he became associate regent from 1831. Married to Gertrude, countess of Schaumburg and princess of Hanau, he succeeded his father who died in 1847. In 1866, the principality of Hesse-Cassel was integrated into Prussia and its monetary system. Frederick William I died in Prague in 1875.
