Obverse description : Au dessous le tétragramme hébraïque en petits caractères. Les époux, de part et d’autre d’un autel enflammé décoré d’une Foi, y apportent une couronne. Dans la fumée le nombre XXV.

Obverse translation : Le bonheur de l’alliance (est) conservé.

Reverse legend : DANTE DEO GRATAM FACTVRA NEPOTIBUS VMBRAM.

Reverse description : Sous un soleil rayonnant, un palmier avec deux écus à leurs armes posés contre sa base.

Reverse translation : Dieu la donnant) Avec l’aide de Dieu, il (le palmier; les arbres sont au féminin en latin) fera une ombre agréable aux neveux (ou aux descendanrs.

Commentary

La médaille est conservée dans un étui vissant en buis avec deux rondibules collés à l’intérieur et écrit à la plume : “Médaille frappée à l’occasion du mariage de Mr Bartholome de Loewenich et son épouse Me Marie van der Leyens célébré le 30 9bre 1775”. Sur le second rondibule : “ Après 25 ans de Mariage / - / Explication Mr a ses quatre fils derrière lui Me ses deux filles, dont l’une a été mariée à Pierre François S(?)auche à Hambourg il en a eu un fils nommé Bartholomé, Frédéric S(?)auche né le 8 Janvier 1788”..
The medal is kept in a screw-on boxwood case with two roundels glued inside and written in pen: “Medal struck on the occasion of the marriage of Mr Bartholome de Loewenich and his wife Me Marie van der Leyens celebrated on 30 September 1775”. On the second roundel: “After 25 years of marriage / - / Explanation Mr has his four sons behind him Me his two daughters, one of whom was married to Pierre François S(?)auche in Hamburg he had a son named Bartholomew, Frédéric S(?)auche born on 8 January 1788”.
