(1576-1849)

The Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was a principality of the Holy Roman Empire, then of the Confederation of the Rhine and finally of the German Confederation. The city of Sigmaringen was its capital. In 1849, it was ceded with the Principality of Hohenzollern-Hechingen to the King of Prussia, the two principalities being merged to form the Province of Hohenzollern.
