From 804 to 1648, the bishopric of Halberstadt (804 to 1648) is a historical ecclesiastical principality of the Holy Roman Empire located in the west of the current state of Saxony-Anhalt in the north of the Harz massif. At the end of the Thirty Years' War, in 1648, the diocese of Halberstadt was secularized, its territory annexed to the Electorate of Brandenburg under the name of Principality of Halberstadt.
