(1605-1626)

The Saxe-Weimar line was not founded until 1640 by the third son of Duke John of Weimar, when his brother, Ernest the Pious, formed the Saxe-Gotha line. From 1662 the Saxe-Weimar branch split and formed the Eisenach and Jena branches which died out in 1741 and 1690 respectively.
