Commentary

La cathédrale de Cologne est commencée en 1248 et consacrée en 1322. Les travaux sont interrompus en 1473 faute de crédits. Il faut attendre le regain d’intérêt pour l’art gothique au XIXe siècle pour que les travaux reprennent. La plus grande cathédrale d’Allemagne est terminée en 1880.
Cologne Cathedral was begun in 1248 and consecrated in 1322. Work was interrupted in 1473 due to lack of funding. It was not until the renewed interest in Gothic art in the 19th century that work resumed. Germany's largest cathedral was completed in 1880.
