Commentary


Le Rentenmark (divisé en 100 Rentenpfennig) est introduit le 15 novembre 1923 afin de stopper l’hyperinflation des années 1922 et 1923. Le Rentenmark vaut 1000 milliards de “papiermark”. Son taux de change avec le dollar est fixé à 1 US$ = 4,2 RM. Le Rentenmark participera de manière efficace à l’arrêt de l’hyperinflation et sera peu à peu remplacé à partir de 1924 par le Reichsmark. Il sera échangeable jusqu’en 1948..
The Rentenmark (divided into 100 Rentenpfennig) was introduced on November 15, 1923, to stop the hyperinflation of 1922 and 1923. The Rentenmark was worth 1,000 billion papiermarks. Its exchange rate with the dollar was set at 1 US$ = 4.2 RM. The Rentenmark played an effective role in stopping hyperinflation and was gradually replaced by the Reichsmark from 1924 onward. It remained exchangeable until 1948.
