Commentary

La Compagnie Centrale d'Éclairage par le gaz est fondée en 1847 par Charles-Louis-André Lebon pour les villes de les villes de Dieppe, Pont-Audemer, Honfleur et Chartres. En 1850, Lebon devient concessionnaire du gaz pour Alger puis en 1900 pour l’électricité. Électricité et Gaz de France récupèrent les activités du groupe en 1946.
The Compagnie Centrale d'Éclairage par le gaz was founded in 1847 by Charles-Louis-André Lebon for the cities of Dieppe, Pont-Audemer, Honfleur and Chartres. In 1850, Lebon became the gas concessionaire for Algiers and then in 1900 for electricity. Electricité and Gaz de France took over the group's activities in 1946.
