Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale et irrégulier, un peu court au revers sur la légende. Beau portrait d’Apollon, bien venu à la frappe. Frappe un peu molle au revers avec une usure plus prononcée. Jolie patine grise avec des reflets doréx

Commentary


Le symbole placé à gauche de la lyre semble difficile à interpréter, mais il semble bien qu’il s’agisse d’un thyrse, symbole accompagnant DIonysos.

The island of Lesbos is located opposite the western coast of Asia Minor, at the entrance to the Gulf of Adramyteion at the mouth of the Hellespont. Mytilene, located on the eastern part of the island facing the mainland, was the main city.
