Obverse description : Tête laurée de TItus à gauche (O*1) regravé dans le champ devant le visage XLII (42 nummi).

Obverse translation : (Titus Cæsar Imperator Pontifex Tribunicia Potestate Consul tertium Censor”, (Titus césar imperator pontife revêtu de la puissance tribunitienne consul pour la troisième fois censeur).

Reverse

Reverse legend : VICTORIA - AVGVST/ S|C.

Reverse description : Victoria (la Victoire) debout à droite sur une proue de navire, tenant une couronne de la main droite levée et une palme de la main gauche.

Reverse translation : “Victoria Augusti”, (la Victoire de l’auguste).

Commentary

Ce type de bronze, suivant les auteurs est attribué soit aux Ostrogoths comme regravés en Italie ou Vandales pour l’Afrique.Les bronzes du Haut Empire ont été réutilisés avec cette marque de valeur de 42 nummi (XLII) pour suppléer à la circulation monétaire. C’est une sorte de monnayage de nécéssité. Le prototype de Titus est un as rare (RIC. 755).
