Caesar

Aelius, perhaps illegitimate son of Hadrian, received the title of Caesar at the very end of 136. Consul in 137, became Lucius Verus Ælius, he was sent as governor in Pannonia in 137. Ill, he returned to Rome and died on 1 January 138.
