Commentary


FAUX. Affaire Gogue (1931). Roger Gogue, ouvrier plâtrier. Deux types de faux connus : 10F Minerve et 500F Bleu et Rose. Réalisation assez grossière. Les couleurs du recto sont plutôt réussies mais la vignette est grasse, sans détails. Gogue a pourtant travaillé par décalque et gravure sur plaque de cuivre, mais ses efforts n'ont pas été récompensés. Sans filigrane.
FAKE. Gogue Affair (1931). Roger Gogue, plasterer. Two known types of fakes: 10F Minerva and 500F Blue and Pink. Fairly crude. The colors on the front are quite successful, but the vignette is greasy and lacking in detail. Gogue did, however, work by tracing and engraving on a copper plate, but his efforts were not rewarded.
