PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC

(26/08/1944-16/01/1947)

The Provisional Government of the French Republic (GPRF) is the name given to the French Committee of National Liberation (CFLN) headed by General de Gaulle in June 1944 and in anticipation of the Allied landings. Recognized by the United States, gradually, the Provisional Government of the French Republic, whose authority extended to the liberated areas. The government moved to Paris 31 August 1944 and revised in September to allow entry of people from the inner resistance. This government remains in office until January 16, 1947, the date of the election of Vincent Auriol as President of the Fourth Republic. At its head follow one another General de Gaulle, Félix Gouin, Georges Bidault and Blum.
