Commentary
This note bears a date not listed by Doctor Kolsky who only cites May 1, 1909. Although the note does not bear a cashier's number (normal in this remote era), it is likely that the five cancellation stamps concerned the notes from L.2 / 001 until, perhaps, 010 in order to use them as specimens. Indeed, we are not at the end of the issue which should be X.2 / 999, so there is no reason to cancel notes that would not have been put into circulation and our example, despite its numerous preservation defects, does not seem to have circulated. Unpublished and to our knowledge, unique. Missing from the Thomas collection
