Banque de l'Indochine - Émissions de la France Combattante. sucharge "FC", antilope et croix de Lorraine. Billet émis et annulé par deux cachets noirs ANNULÉ et des petites perforations en lignes verticales pour servir de spécimen, numéro de caissier manuscrit 25. Ce billet a été émis à 7982 exemplaires et il n'est pas sûr qu'il en subsiste un seul exemplaire émis non annulé.

Banknote issued and cancelled by two black CANCELLED stamps and small perforations in vertical lines to serve as a specimen, handwritten cashier number 25. This banknote was issued in 7982 examples and it is not certain that a single example issued without cancellation remains.

DJIBOUTI
The opening of the Suez Canal gave the Gulf of Aden an unequaled strategic importance at the exit from the Red Sea. The English controlled Aden, the French bought Obock in 1862 while Marseille shipowners settled in Tadjoura. In 1884, a French protectorate was passed with the local potentates. The same was done with the Somali chiefs. Colonel Lagarde founded Djibouti in 1888. The capital was transferred in 1891 from Obock to Djibouti. Having colony status in 1894, the region took the name of Côte Française des Somalis in 1896.
