The murky period during WWII, the quick refund in 1945 and a momentous hold-up in Clermont-Ferrand in 1944 made the 1000 F Déméter a banknote full of surprises. Following the 1945 exchange, some stocks of the Demeter note remained hidden and could not be redeemed.
