ÉPREUVE du recto en noir. Sur grande feuille, pliée au format du billet. Au crayon : Pellicule taille douce, 2ème état. Tampon Collection JPV Georges Thomas. Ce projet de Sébastien Laurent, développé au début des années 40, sera produit en 1947 à plusieurs millions d’exemplaires sans valeur faciale avant d’être détruit.
Cette très rare épreuve de la taille douce du 1000F Trophées réalisée par Jules Piel est datée de 1941.
De leur début en 1930 jusqu’aux années 1960, toutes les tailles douces des billets de la Banque de France ont été réalisées par Jules Piel. Pendant cette période, seule les grosses coupures comportaient une taille douce au recto soit 12 vignettes pour les billets émis (5000 F Victoire au 100 F Corneille). Ces très rares épreuves de taille douce, provenant pour la plupart des archives de Jules Piel, font l’objet de collection à part entière tant cette technique a contribué à la beauté et au succès des billets de la Banque de France.

This project by Sébastien Laurent, developed in the early 1940s, was produced in 1947 in several million copies without face value before being destroyed. This very rare proof of the intaglio of the 1000F Trophées made by Jules Piel is dated 1941. From their beginning in 1930 until the 1960s, all intaglios of the Banque de France banknotes were made by Jules Piel. During this period, only the large denominations had intaglio on the front, i.e. 12 vignettes for the issued banknotes (5000 F Victoire to 100 F Corneille). These very rare intaglio proofs, mostly from the archives of Jules Piel, are the subject of a collection in their own right, as this technique has contributed to the beauty and success of the Banque de France banknotes.
