C’est le troisième exemplaire répertorié dans notre base Collection Idéale. C’est la seconde fois que nous proposons cette monnaie à la vente après l’exemplaire MONNAIES XXIII n° 1713. Le chiffre officiel de fabrication semble bien trop élevé pour trois exemplaires subsistants. Une explication plausible existe : l’examen de notre exemplaire montre une trace de coin choqué dramatique au revers - donc sur le millésime - tellement profonde qu’il semble qu’elle soit tréflée. Le coin choqué aurait donc été abîmé au-delà du réparable ou de l’utilisable. Qui sait si la frappe n’a pas été interrompue avec ce coin de 1826 avant les 16.914 théoriques et poursuivie avec un coin préparé pour 1827, augmentant donc les 1827 au détriment des 1826. Il faut noter que nous répertorions quatre exemplaires de 1827 K pour un théorique de 9.585 exemplaires.
This is the third example listed in our Ideal Collection database. This is the second time we have offered this coin for sale after the example MONNAIES XXIII n° 1713. The official mintage figure seems far too high for three surviving examples. A plausible explanation exists: examination of our example shows a dramatic die-shock trace on the reverse - therefore on the year - so deep that it appears to be trefoiled. The die-shock would therefore have been damaged beyond repair or usability. Who knows if the mintage was not interrupted with this 1826 die before the theoretical 16,914 and continued with a die prepared for 1827, thus increasing the 1827 at the expense of the 1826.
