Exemplaire sur un flan régulier. Très beau portrait de haut relief. Revers bien venu à la frappe, légèrement décentré sur la légende. Patine marron et rouge, légèrement granuleuse et grattée

Reverse description : Hercule nu debout à droite, son bras droit au côté et la main gauche tenant la massue autour de laquelle est enroulée la léonté, posée sur un rocher.
Reverse translation : “Virtuti Augusti”, (À la virilité de l'auguste).

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations. Emperor at 13, married at 16, killed at 19, this is how the life of this young man could be summed up, victim of the appetites of Philippe the Arab, new prefect of the praetorium.
