Obverse description : Buste lauré et cuirassé de Constantin II césar à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant, tenant un globe nicéphore de la main droite et un sceptre de la main gauche (I*8).
Obverse translation : “Constantinus Junior Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Constantin le jeune très noble césar).

Reverse legend : VIRTVS - EXERCIT/ VOT/XX/ (CHRISME)|*// PT.
Reverse description : Labarum entre deux captifs assis dos à dos ; le labarum est accosté d'un chrisme à gauche et d'une étoile à droite.
Reverse translation : “Virtus Exerciti/ Vota Vicennalia”, (La Virilité de l'armée/ Vœux pour le vingtième anniversaire de règne).

Caesar
Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
