Superbe exemplaire sur un flan bien centré des deux côtés. Revers finement détaillé. Très beau buste de Tranquilline. Patine marron-vert

Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé de Tranquilline à droite, avec les cheveux coiffés en tresses, ramenée derrière la tête (L5).
Obverse translation : “Sabinia Tranquillina Augusta”, (Sabine Tranquilline augusta).

Reverse legend : COL - FL P-AC D-EVLT.
Reverse description : Artémis (Diane) marchant à gauche, tenant un arc de la main droite ; à ses pieds à gauche, un chien bondissant à gauche.
Reverse translation : “Colonia Flavia Pacifica Deultum”, (Colonie flavienne pacifique de Deultum).
Commentary
Monnaie à légende latine tout à fait exceptionnelle. Trou de centrage de chaque côté.

Wife of Gordian III - Augusta
Gordian III married the daughter of the prefect of the Praetorian Timésithée, Tranquillina, in 241. The following year, she accompanied the emperor to the East. After the death of his father, replaced by Philip the Arab, we lose track of him. Gordian was assassinated in 244 at the instigation of the new prefect of the Praetorium.
