Reverse description : Cavalier galopant à droit, nu le manteau flottant, tenant une longue javeline de la main droite et les rênes de la main gauche.

Commentary
Ce type avec un monogramme qui semble légèrement différent de celui de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. 1392) semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux et manque à la plupart des ouvrages consultés.

Agathokles, tyranus of Syracuse
Agathokles had seized power in Syracuse in 317 BC and assumed the title of king in 305 BC. In 310 the tyrant invaded North Africa and attacked Carthage, but he was defeated in 307 and must retire to Sicily. Peace, signed the following year with the hereditary enemy, consecrates the hegemony of Agathokles over all Sicily.
