Historical background

PHRYGIA - EUMENEIA

(2nd century BC)

Eumeneia was founded by Eumenes II, (197-160 BC) Attalid king in his honor and took his name. The city was located in the fertile valley of Glaucos and was placed at an important crossroads. The coinage ceases on the death of Attalus III in 133 BC when the latter, without heirs, bequeaths his kingdom to the Romans.
