Exemplaire sur un petit flan bien centré des deux côtés. Frappe un peu molle au droit avec une usure très importante. Très joli revers finement détaillé. Jolie patine de collection ancienne

Obverse description : Galère de guerre voguant à gauche avec rameurs, rames et boucliers ; zigzag figurant la mer.

Reverse legend : LETTRE PHÉNICIENNE (90).

Reverse description : Le grand Roi debout à gauche, tourné à droite combattant un lion dressé à gauche ; le tout dans les restes d’un carré creux.

Abdashtart or Strato I

Sidon was with Tire one of the main ports of the Phoenician coast, essentially a military port. The new coinage of Sidon began in 112-111 BC Pompey maintained the status of a free city, later confirmed by Marc Antoine. Autonomous coinage ceased in 30/29 BC.
