Exemplaire sur un flan large et irrégulier, éclaté à 2 heures. Très beau portrait de Maurice Tibère. Joli revers bien venu à la frappe. Patine vert foncé

Cet exemplaire semble surfrappé sur un follis plus ancien. Son identification est rendue difficile par l’état de conservation.

MAURICIUS TIBERIUS

(08/13/582-11/22/602)

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
