Monnaie sur un flan légèrement irrégulier mais bien centré. Beau buste de Gordien. Quelques faiblesses au revers. Patine grise

Obverse description : Buste radié, drapé et cuirassé de Gordien III à droite, vu de trois quarts en arrière (A2).
Obverse translation : "Imperator Cæsar Marcus Antonius Gordianus Augustus", (L’empereur césar Marc Antoine Gordien auguste).
Reverse
Reverse legend : FIDES M-ILTVM.
Reverse description : Fides (la Fidélité) debout à gauche, tenant une enseigne militaire dans chaque main.
Reverse translation : "Fides Militum", (La Fidélité des soldats).
Commentary
Il manque une lettre dans la légende de revers (MILTVM au lieu de MILITVM). Nous n’avons pas représenté ce type dans les ouvrages généraux.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations. Emperor at 13, married at 16, killed at 19, this is how the life of this young man could be summed up, victim of the appetites of Philippe the Arab, new prefect of the praetorium.
