Louis Günther II of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt was the youngest son of Prince Louis Frederick I of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife Anna Sophie of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. Prince Louis Günther was the thirteenth and youngest child in a family of seven sisters and three brothers. During his youth, Louis Günther traveled to Italy. He worked as a colonel in Milan from 1726 to 1731. His military career was cut short due to health problems..
