Obverse translation : “Imperator Constantius Pius Felix Augustus”, (L’empereur Constance pieux heureux auguste.

Reverse

Reverse legend : GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI.
Reverse description : Genius (le Génie) debout à gauche nu, coiffé du modius, le manteau sur l'épaule, tenant de la main gauche une corne d'abondance et de la main droite une patère.
Reverse translation : “Genio Populi Romani”, (Au Génie du Peuple romain).

Commentary

Ce type n’est frappé que jusqu’à la mort de Constance Ier survenue en Angleterre.

Augustus

Constantius became Caesar on March 1, 293 at the same time as Galerius. Constance, who became august in 305, went to Brittany to fight the Picts. He died in York as Septimius Severus on July 25, 306. Constantine had had time to join him, despite Galerius' ban. Constantine struck an important coinage of consecration then restitution in his memory.
