Superbe monnaie frappée sur un flan idéalement centré. Buste finement détaillé au droit et revers très bien venu. Patine marron

Obverse description : Buste lauré, consulaire de Constantin II à gauche, vu de trois quarts en avant, et tenant un sceptre surmonté d'un aigle de la main droite (H*2).
Obverse translation : “Constantinus Iunior Nobilissimus Consul iterum”, (Constantin le jeune noble consul pour la deuxième fois).

Reverse description : Autel inscrit surmonté d'un globe et de trois étoiles.

Monnaie inédite avec cette légende de droit non répertoriée ! Type recensé pour la première officine (RMBT 147b). On retrouve aussi ce COS II dans de rares frappes de l’atelier de Lyon.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
