Commentary
Ce jeton célèbre la victoire de Neuf-Brisach de 1638, dernier obstacle à la main-mise française sur la haute vallée du Rhin Bien que secourue par une armée impériale, la ville capitula en décembre 1638. Cette victoire fermait aux armées impériales l'Alsace (l'aigle terrassé) et rendait impossible l'utilisation par l'Espagne de la voie de terre pour accéder aux Pays-Bas.
