Ce denier est frappé sur un flan assez large et légèrement irrégulier. Exemplaire présentant quelques faiblesses de frappe et recouvert d’une jolie patine grise de médaillier. La croix du revers apparaît en négatif au droit

(07/05/1342-06/12/1352)

A French Benedictine from Limousin, he was elected pope on May 7, 1342 and consecrated on May 19. In 1348, he bought Avignon and the Comtat. He had the palace of Benedict XII decorated and was the protector of artists and writers such as Petrarch. He died on December 6, 1352 and was buried in La Chaise-Dieu.
