Historical background

CARACALLA

(27/05/196-8/04/217) Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

Co-emperor with Septimius Severus (04/198-209)

Caracalla was appointed in April august 198 before the great Parthian victory. In 202, he married the daughter of the praetorian prefect Plautianus, Plautilla, which will be relegated three years later. In 204, begins the celebration of the Secular games. Severus tries to impose the image of the new dynasty. Caracalla celebrates decennalia in 207 and accompanied his father in Africa. He then joined his father in Britain at the end of the year 208 when the Roman armies are experiencing their first success.
