Historical background

BOSPORUS - KINGDOM OF CIMMERIAN BOSPORUS - THOTHORSES

(279-309)

Thothorses and Diocletian

After the disappearance of the kingdom of Pontus of Mithridates VI in 63 BC, part of the Bosphorus was erected into a kingdom first for the benefit of Asandre (47-17 BC), then of Polemon II (38-64). This kingdom lasted until the middle of the 4th century with Rheskouporis V (304-342).
