Cette série de monnaie commémore le 800e anniversaire du monastère de Hilandar situé dans l’Aktè ou péninsule du mont Athos en Grèce. Initialement fondé au Xe siècle puis abandonné, il est refondé en 1198 par ancien roi serbe Stefan Nemanja devenu Saint Siméon et son fils Rastko Nemanjic devenu Saint Sava. Bien que situé en Grèce, il s’agit d’un haut lieu de la vie religieuse et culturelle serbe.
This coin series commemorates the 800th anniversary of the Hilandar Monastery located on the Akte or peninsula of Mount Athos in Greece. Initially founded in the 10th century and then abandoned, it was refounded in 1198 by former Serbian king Stefan Nemanja, who became Saint Simeon, and his son Rastko Nemanjic, who became Saint Sava. Although located in Greece, it is a major center of Serbian religious and cultural life.
