VON WÜRTTEMBERG-WINNENTAL FRIEDRICH KARL

1652-1698

A German nobleman born and died in Stuttgart, he was from 1677 a duke of the Württemberg-Winnental line and tutor to Duke Eberhard-Louis of Württemberg, regent of the duchy. He was the son of Duke Eberhard III and Anne-Catherine of Salm-Kyrburg. On 27 November 1677, Frederick Charles received from Emperor Leopold I of the Holy Roman Empire the position of tutor to his nephew Eberhard-Louis of Württemberg and to assume the regency of the Duchy of Württemberg, until 1693. In 1694, he received the title of Imperial Marshal. On 31 October 1682, Frederick Charles of Württemberg-Winnental married Eleanor Juliana of Brandenburg-Ansbach, daughter of Margrave Albert II of Brandenburg-Ansbach. They had eight children..
