Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais et irrégulier, un peu court sur la légende de droit. Très beau portrait. Revers de style fin, bien venu à la frappe. A été nettoyé anciennement. Conserve une partie de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Tête laurée de Vespasien à droite (O*).
Obverse translation : “Imperator Cæsar Vespasianus Augustus Consul quartum”, (L’empereur césar Vespasien auguste consul pour la quatrième fois).

Reverse legend : CONCORDIA - A-VGVSTI.
Reverse description : Concordia (la Concorde) drapée assise à gauche, tenant une patère de la main droite et une corne d’abondance de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Concordia Augusti”, (La Concorde de l’auguste).
Commentary
Rubans de type 3. Césure de légende de droit inhabituelle. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type à la vente.

Vespasien was born on November 17, 9 in Flacrines, near Reate (in Sabine country). He belongs to the Italian municipal bourgeoisie. Aedile in 38, lender in 40, consul in 51, proconsul of Africa in 63, he commanded with Claude the expedition to Brittany. Nero entrusted him with three legions and a proconsular imperium to crush the revolt of Judea in 66. He was proclaimed august on July 1, 69 in Alexandria and his sons, Titus and Domitian, were promoted to Caesar. Vitellius was eliminated on December 20, 69. Titus was directly associated with the government by his father from 71. His reign was devoted to the political and economic restoration of Rome. In 73, he took on the censorship. He died in Reate on June 24, 79.
