Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Valentinianus Pius Felix Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Valentinien pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : RESTITV-TOR REIP/ -|-// SLVG.
Reverse description : Valentinien debout de face tourné à gauche, la tête à droite, tenant le labarum chrismé de la main droite et le globe nicéphore de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Restitutor Rei Publicæ”, (Le restaurateur du bien public).

Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cabochon rond. Fibule d’attache ronde. Labarum croiseté. Nous n’avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente pour ce type.

VALENTINIAN I

(02/25/364-11/17/375)

Valentinian, proclaimed on February 25, 364, joined his brother Valens on August 24 of the same year. They share the Empire, Valentinian reserving the West. In 367, the Emperor named Augustus his son Gratian. Valentinian died on November 17, 375, leaving the West in great danger.
