Commentary


L'art pariétal comporte des œuvres peintes, gravées ou sculptées. Ces dernières sont souvent associées aux abris-sous-roches (Roc-aux-Sorciers à Angles-sur-l'Anglin). La grotte de Lascaux comporte plus de gravures que de peintures. Selon la dureté de la paroi, l'artiste utilisait ses mains seules (parois argileuses) ou des outils de pierre et de bois pour inciser la paroi. Certaines créations modelées sont de véritables chefs-d'œuvre, tels les bisons de la grotte du Tuc d'Audoubert..
