Petite monnaie avec un droit confus et un revers légèrement décentré et partiellement hors flan. Patine sombre et brillant

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête très stylisée et dégénérée à droite, le cou marqué par trois traits verticaux, le bout du nez pointé et un globule devant la bouche.

Reverse


Reverse description : Croix dans le champ, un globule dans chaque canton ; légende circulaire autour.

Commentary


Avec un poids de 0,54 gramme il est difficile de qualifier cette monnaie de denier ! Il s’agit plus vraisemblablement d’une obole. Le droit est altéré par une cassure de coin sur la partie supérieure de la tête.
Aucune obole de ce type ne figure dans le recensement de M. Dhénin et P. Schiesser ; elle s’insère dans la seconde catégorie d’oboles “de petit module”.
Sous certains aspects, cet exemplaire est comparable aux monnaies légères découvertes sur le site de Dombourg (Pays-Bas).
