Commentary


Ce lot est composé d’un sceat identifiable mais très usé (de 0,91 gramme) et d’un denier sur un flan quadrangulaire (de 0,97 gramme) avec ECL pour Ecclesia au revers.
Le denier est du même type que le MEC. 614 attribué à Senlis (?). Cf. Belfort. 4561, Prou 2805, Bais 275 et Cimiez 112.

Many Merovingian coins, badly minted, with very poor or inexplicit epigraphy, cannot be attributed to a particular mint. Too rare coins unfortunately have the same problem.
