Commentary

Suite au démembrement de la république Tchécoslovaque, la région de Ruthénie déclare son indépendance le 15 mars 1939 sous le nom de Carpatho-Ukraine avec Augustin Voloshyn à sa tête. Elle est aussitôt envahie par la Hongrie, qui annexe le 23 mas 1939 le reste de la Ruthénie subcarpatique, majoritairement peuplée de Ruthènes. .
Following the breakup of the Czechoslovak Republic, the region of Ruthenia declared its independence on March 15, 1939, under the name of Carpatho-Ukraine, led by Augustin Voloshyn. It was immediately invaded by Hungary, which annexed the rest of Subcarpathian Ruthenia, which was predominantly populated by Ruthenians, on March 23, 1939.
