Bronze sur un flan un peu court et irrégulier, mais bien centré, avec l'ensemble des types de droit et de revers. Patine sombre légèrement piquée, mais stable

Cet exemplaire a l’avantage d’avoir la légende AGVSSROS du droit complète, comme sur celui du musée Danicourt de Péronne (qui est repris pour illustrer le Nouvel Atlas, n° 2667).

Historical background
TURONES (Area of Touraine)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The people of the Turons, settled on the Loire, left their name to Tours and Touraine. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. They seem to have grown in importance after the disappearance of the Arverne empire in 121 BC. Like the Pictons, the Turons provided eight thousand men for the relief army which was to release Alesia. Their main oppidum seems to have been placed near the site of Amboise. Caesar (BG. II, 35; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 46).
