Intéressante médaille avec une belle scène au droit. Aspect irrégulier avec des traces de rouille et de colle (?) et une importante rayure circulaire au revers

Cette médaille a le même revers que le fme_371826 pour la Société libre d’Agriculture de l’Eure ; son avers est de J. Lagrange alors que celle-ci est de E. Dropsy.
Henry Cochin est un homme politique français né le 31 janvier 1854 à Paris (Seine), et mort le 9 décembre 1926 à Paris (Seine). Par ailleurs spécialiste de l'histoire et de la littérature italienne de la Renaissance, on lui doit notamment des traductions de Pétrarque.
Henry Cochin est le frère de Denys Cochin, homme politique et Ministre, et le fils d'Augustin Cochin.
Après des études de droit et comme auditeur libre à l'école des chartes, il entre au cabinet du ministère de l'Intérieur du Gouvernement de Broglie. Il quitte son poste à la chute du ministère en 1877. Il se lance dans des recherches historiques, tout en continuant le combat politique. Il est arrêté et poursuivi après les incidents liés à l'expulsion des dominicains de Paris, en 1880.
Son épouse étant originaire des Flandres, il part s'installer dans le (Nord). Il devient maire de Saint-Pierre-Brouck en 1889 et député du Nord de 1893 à 1914. Inscrit au groupe de l'Action libérale, il est secrétaire de la Chambre de 1896 à 1898. Il s'investit beaucoup sur les questions agricoles. Conseiller général du Canton de Bourbourg en 1906, il laisse son siège à son fils Claude Cochin dès 1910, et lui laisse son siège de député en 1914.
Il reprend alors ses activités littéraires et artistiques. Il préside la société Saint-Jean, destinée à encourager l'art chrétien. Il est élu le 26 février 1926 à l'Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres, au fauteuil de Paulin Durrieu.

The news of the capitulation of Sedan provokes the revolution of September 4, 1870 in Paris. Proclaimed at the Hôtel de Ville, the Republic is endowed with a provisional government called the Government of National Defense. Threatened on the left by the insurrection of the Commune and on the right by the monarchists, the new regime had a difficult start.. Initially head of the executive power (February 1871), Thiers was responsible for reorganizing the country before choosing its form of government.. He became President of the Republic in August 1871 and, despite his action to liberate the territory, had to leave his post in March 1873 in the face of royalist opposition..
